We cater to junior players across multiple age groups: the Cricket Blast introductory skills (ages 5-7) and entry-level game programs (Under 8/9) through to competitive junior teams (Under 10 to Under 17). We also have two senior/adult teams who play in a local park cricket competition.A player’s age at midnight on 31st August is used to determine their cricket age group. For example, if a player turns 7 on or before 31st August they will be in U8, if they turn 8 on or before 31st August they will be in U9, and so on.We recommend players are placed in their correct age groups, however, there is some flexibility. For example, someone playing cricket for the first time can be placed in a younger age group.
Yes, we welcome players of all skill levels, including beginners.
Yes, we have both mixed (boys and girls) and girls-only cricket teams. Read more on our dedicated girls cricket program.
This is usually no problem; please provide details of friends in the space available when completing your registration form. If you know the team coach, please contact them before you register. We limit team size to give all players experience with batting and bowling. Sometimes requests may be difficult to achieve if a team is fully subscribed, in which case we will endeavor to place a new player in another team. While we do our best to accommodate team allocation requests, the club makes final team placement decisions.
All our teams are mixed abilities teams, we don’t grade or trial players. We aim to keep friends together and accommodate team allocation requests from players, parents and coaches. From time-to-time, to balance these requests with the number of players in teams and their abilities, the club will make team allocation decisions that involve compromises. We ask our members to support these decisions, take opportunities to make new friends, and do their best to develop as cricketers and team players.Team allocations are reviewed each season.
We aim to develop all our cricketers and have them play in teams where the love of cricket, team spirit and respect for each other and their opponents is nurtured. We field mixed abilities teams and only grade teams if they are placed in a graded competition (for example, Sixers Cricket League) to match them to the level of competition they will face.
Registrations are completed online via Cricket Australia’s PlayHQ platform. A parent / carer will need to set up an account to manage junior player registrations; several junior players can be linked to the one parent / carer account.
