Junior Competitions

Please note - for ALL-GIRLS teams, please ensure you register in the Sixers Cricket League competitions and not IWHJCA competitions.

Cricket game formats are adjusted for age to encourage ongoing skill development and game awareness. Junior teams start at Under 10 and go to Under 17. These are divided into three ‘stages’:

  • Stage 1 cricket

    • Under 10 and Under 11 play with a 142g ball

    • T20 format on a 16-metre pitch with 7 players on the field at a time

  • Stage 2 cricket

    • Under 12 and Under 13 play with a 142g ball

    • T30* format on an 18-metre pitch with 9 players on the field at a time

  • Stage 3 cricket

    • Under 14 to Under 17 play with a 156g ball

    • T30/T32* format on a full-length 20-metre pitch with 11 players on the field at a time

*The number of overs depends on the competition, see below for more details.
