At Leichhardt Wanderers Cricket Club, we are passionate about providing quality cricket opportunities for girls of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re picking up a bat for the first time or looking to take your skills to the next level, our club is committed to supporting female players in a fun, inclusive and safe environment.

Programs For All Ages
Leichhardt Wanderers Cricket Club proudly offers cricket programs tailored for girls, including:

Woolworths Cricket Blast: Perfect for girls aged 5-8, focusing on fun, participation, and basic skills. Played on Friday nights at Blackmore Oval. All equipment is provided.

Junior Girls Teams: For players aged 9-17, compete in the Sydney Sixers Cricket League and develop your game alongside supportive teammates and coaches.​

Under 11 will play Stage 1 cricket, this is a modified format with 7 players a side and an emphasis on fun and participation. Games will last approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.

Under 13 can play either Stage 1 or Stage 2 depending on ability. Stage 2 cricket is 9-a-side with less modified rules, it’s a step closer to 'traditional' cricket. Games will last approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.

Under 15 will play Stage 2 cricket. Stage 2 cricket is 9-a-side with less modified rules; it’s a step closer to 'traditional' cricket. Games will last approximately 2 to 4 hours.

Under 17 will play Stage 3 cricket. Stage 3 cricket is 11-a-side with less modified rules; it’s another step closer to 'traditional' cricket. Games will last approximately 2.5 to 4 hours.

Our Coaches & Volunteers
Our accredited coaches are passionate about girls’ cricket and dedicated to providing positive, encouraging, and high-quality training. All volunteers hold a valid Working With Children Check, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for every player.

Training & Match Information
Training: Held at Blackmore Oval, Leichhardt on Thursday evening (6-7pm) during the summer season (September to March).

Matches: Played on Saturday afternoon across the Inner West through the summer season (September to March).
Pathways

Local under 13 representative girls playing in the Mollie Dive Shield.

Local under 15 representative girls in the Margaret Peden Shield.
-
Brewer Shield is the under 18 Premier Cricket competition and is the traditional pathway to higher grades.
FAQs

Do I need my own gear? No worries if you don’t have equipment - our club can provide bats, pads and helmets for new players.

Can my friends join too? Absolutely! Cricket is more fun with mates. Register as a group and we’ll do our best to keep you together.

Is there a uniform? Yes, club shirts and caps are available for order when you register, or through our online shop.
