Season 2026/27 commences this weekend for our juniors!

⚠️ Important information for all below.

Pre-season is over and the games start now! Well... let's hope so anyway. The rain has been on and off this week and still hanging around. With any luck, all our grounds remain open and cricket can be played!

We'd like to wish everyone at the club all the very best for the season ahead - firstly coaches, managers, umpires, scorers, volunteers and supporters... but especially, our players!

And remember: it's just a game - it's all about our kids having fun, being in a team and learning to love the beautiful game of cricket!

Read on below for everything you need to know going into round 1.

Cricket Hub - a club resource for everyone!

Please ensure you jump on to our website and navigate to the Cricket Hub page. The Hub is our club's best resource for all the information you need - whether you're a coach, manager, player, parent/guardian, supporter, or are volunteering to help score or umpire junior cricket this season.

To get you started, here are some of the key resources featured on Cricket Hub:

🏏 Playing Conditions for Stages 1 / 2 / 3 and Blast cricket. Reminder that all Blast and Mixed Junior teams are under the Inner West Harbour Junior Cricket Association (IWHJCA) banner and our All-Girls teams are under the Sixers Cricket League (SCL) banner.

🏏 IWHCJA By Laws. In conjunction with playing conditions, we encourage you to familiarise yourself with the competition by laws (not applicable to SCL).

🏏 Scoring Resources. This includes guides to using the e-scoring system (PlayHQ), paper scoring manuals, and score sheets for each stage. (See more below).

🏏 Equipment Checklist. A useful equipment and uniform guide for U10 competitions and above.

🏏 Weather Resources. Includes association by laws covering rules around weather conditions (such as extreme heat, rain, lightning), Cricket NSW heat policy, links to council ground closure pages and the Heat Stress Risk Assessment (HSRI) tool used in extreme conditions.

Adverse Weather in Junior Cricket

Given the rain around this week, please note the following:

  • For training during the week at both Blackmore Oval and Rozelle Parklands, we are subject to the ground status set by the Inner West Council. If the ground is closed by council on any given day, there is no permitted usage of the field or cricket nets.

  • For match days, it is rare that the association will call off an entire round en masse for wet weather. However, individual ground closures by relevant councils will determine if a particular game is able to proceed or not. Therefore, if your ground is open, and the round has not been called off prior, please assume your game is on. Your manager and/or team coach will communicate all information and decisions to your team, however it's best to assume you need to show up to your game ready to play, before any decision can be made whether to proceed or not.

  • For extreme heat, teams can make use of the Heat Stress Risk Assessment tool, available on the Cricket Hub here (scroll down to find the tool under Weather Resources).

Scoring Junior Cricket

We strongly encourage that each team has multiple people who can score their junior games. And with the PlayHQ e-Scoring app, it's never been easier! There are plenty of resources available on our website to learn how to score:

💻 E-scoring:

💡 Tip: If you would like your own login access to e-score (free), please ask your team manager.
