Welcome to the Leichhardt Wanderers for cricket season 2025-26!
We welcome back all of our returning players and their families for a big summer season of junior cricket ahead. We also warmly welcome all of our new players and their families to the club! Our club newsletter serves as an important medium for club communications throughout the cricket season, with weekly updates including our junior match reports and featured performances. We truly hope you have an enjoyable and exciting season ahead and feel right at home as part of this wonderful club!
Season Launch & Welcome Event
Join us at the Blackmore Long Room on Friday evening as we launch our summer season for 2025-26 at our annual welcome event. The clubhouse will be open from 5:30pm until 9pm (ish).
We'll have the BBQ fired up, serving sausage sandwiches, chicken souvlaki & salad plates - give yourself a night off cooking at the end of a long week and let us handle dinner! The bar will be also be open featuring our new beer supplier, Philter! Soft drinks and water are also available at the canteen.
Our welcome event is one of our major club events for the year. As a community club run entirely by volunteers, these events are a huge fundraising opportunity for the club. So please, we strongly encourage you and your teams to come down and buy some food, drinks and/or some club merchandise to support your club! You don't need to be there at 5:30pm on the dot... we'll be going for a few hours, so just turn up whenever suits you!
You can also check out our updated Cricket Honour Board, featuring some new names for individual accomplishments & two new premiership teams! (The photo doesn't do it justice!).
A little note on uniform collection..... we know everyone will be keen to pick up their kit or purchase new items they need. But to help out our hard-working volunteers, you'll have the whole night to get what you need, so if there's a bit of a queue forming, please grab a bite to eat or a drink and wait for your moment! This year, we will also have separate stations for either picking up pre-ordered uniforms or purchasing new items (or if you need to exchange a size). Please look out for the signs to direct you!
Pre-Season Update & Teams
Whilst registrations remain open for most of our age groups, teams have now been allocated based on current registered players. Communications have been sent our to our coaches & managers informing them of their team list (including parent contact details) and their allocated training time and day.
We would expect now that all coaches/managers will be making contact with their teams to communicate important information and plan for their pre-season training.
Note, once all teams are finalised and team nominations are closed, Cricket NSW will complete the season match draws which will be published via the PlayCricket app. We encourage all players and their families to download the app - it's fantastic!
Celebrating Club Success: Four Girls Selected For Inner West Harbour Representative Teams
We’re thrilled to announce a fantastic milestone for our club this season, with four talented girls earning selection in the prestigious Inner West Harbour representative cricket teams.
Congratulations to Charlotte Williams and Connie Rawson, who have been named in the Under 15 Margaret Peden team. Their dedication and skill on the field have truly paid off, and we could not be prouder of their achievements.
In the Under 13 Molly Dive team, Emily Moore and Sofia Cavallaro will be representing our club and showcasing their cricketing talent among the best in the region. Both girls have shown outstanding commitment and their selection is a testament to their hard work and love for the game.
These selections are a wonderful reflection of the growing strength of girls’ cricket at our club. We look forward to seeing Charlotte, Connie, Emily and Sofia take the field in their representative colours and wish them all the very best for the season ahead!
The Pavilion: Coaches' & Managers' Corner
Coaches & Managers BBQ. Thanks for all coaches and managers who gave their time and attended the club's free BBQ & C&M Briefing event last Saturday night! For those who weren't in attendance, we have published the presentation slides on our Cricket Hub page.
Training. As mentioned at the briefing, this season's training schedule has been finalised, with the full schedule to be published on the Cricket Hub as soon as possible.
Team Equipment. Many teams have already picked up their team kit last weekend, however if you have not yet done so, there will be further opportunities to collect equipment from our storeroom - we will advise via the coaches & managers WhatsApp chat. However, please note that we will not be opening the storeroom to distribute team equipment at the welcome event this Friday (as our volunteers' attention will be at the clubhouse).
Cricket Hub. Don't forget! All the important documents and information you need are available on our website page called the Cricket Hub, including playing conditions for each format. The club is working hard to provide more support to our coaches for the upcoming season and will share additional information in due course.
Cricket NSW Level 1 Community Coaching Course. This season we are encouraging all junior coaches & assistants to complete Cricket NSW's Level 1 Community Coaching Course session on October 28th at Cricket Central (Silverwater). Click here for more details and to register now for this *free* course!
Uniforms & Merchandise
All LWCC playing uniform and merchandise can be pre-ordered via our online PlayHQ store here. Pre-ordered uniforms can be collected at our Season Launch & Welcome Event this Friday and new uniform sales will also be available on the night. Note, there will be additional opportunities to collect uniform orders prior to the commencement of junior games.
