Welcome to Cricket Season 2024-25!

As the weather in Sydney warms up that can only mean the new cricket season is upon us!

There's a lot going on at the Leichhardt Wanderers cricket club ahead of the new season:

  • Registrations are in full swing - click here to register now!

    • We're furiously allocating teams and training times ahead of junior competitions starting in mid-October - we will be in touch with coaches & managers regarding this process.

    • In some cases, we have teams with no nominated coach or manager - we will be in touch with these teams to work through this process.

  • We have team uniforms and now brand new merchandise options available to purchase during registration. But wait there's more! We now have a dedicated online shop through the PlayHQ portal to purchase items separately from registrations. Click here to access the online shop - support your club and wear your colours proudly!

  • We have two key events on Saturday 21st September:

    • Our FREE Girls "Come & Try Cricket" session. This session is being run by professional female coaches from our partners at 360 Cricket Academy, and is designed specifically for young girls to try out cricket for the first time. Time: 10am-11:30am @ Blackmore Oval. No sign-up required, show up and play! All LWCC registered girls are also encouraged to attend to benefit from the free training session, and if you can, bring a friend to try cricket!

    • Our FREE Coaches' Event, which includes a "Coach the Coaches" session run by professional coaches (also from 360 Cricket Academy) to assist all team leaders to help run their junior cricket teams. Time: 3pm-5pm @ Blackmore Oval. This is followed by our coaches and managers BBQ in the clubhouse whilst we host our pre-season briefing session. In this session, we will provide an overview of the season including the calendar, playing formats and rules, and other handy pieces of advice for managing your cricket season - plus Q&A. Time: 5pm onwards @ Blackmore Clubhouse.

Importantly, the coaches' session is not just for nominated coaches! All parents are invited to join - no cricket experience required - in order to help out at training and games throughout the season. Most coaches welcome any assistance that parents/guardians or older siblings can provide! Having extra hands to help manage training sessions can allow coaches to focus on valuable one-on-one training with individual players. We strongly encourage anyone to attend and learn how you can help!

  • Following this, we will have a club-wide Welcome BBQ the afternoon of Friday 11th October @ Blackmore Clubhouse. At this event, coaches/managers will be able to collect their team kit. In addition, pre-ordered uniform and merchandise can be collected and we'll be able to sell any additional items that players require.

  • We will have a second uniform & merchandise collection day on Friday 18th October @ Blackmore Clubhouse. Additional uniform & merchandise sales will also be available, ahead of junior competition commencement on Saturday 19th October.

As always, we are here to support everyone as best we can, from players and parents to coaches, managers, scorers and other volunteers. Furthermore, we can never have enough volunteers, so if you can support your club in any way, please get in touch!

We hope to see as many of you as possible at these events and we're very much looking forward to some cricket!
